7pm - DJ Jah Yogi spinning an all-Latin playlist 8pm - Live music by Chiringa All Ages Silver Moon Brewing, Indoor Stage

Chiringa is a Puerto Rican-fronted band and acknowledges that this holiday, while significant to the town of Puebla, is not a significant holiday celebrated in all of Mexico. The version we know in the US is a result of the commercialization of this holiday, primarily set forth by beer and liquor companies. It was, however, significant to Mexican-Americans as a way to lift up their culture amidst oppression. We recognize that we, as a band, are benefiting from this Americanized tradition and wish to move the awareness and treatment of this holiday toward actual care and uplift of Mexican-Americans and the Latinx community at large.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Vámonos Outside, a local organization whose mission is to connect, engage & inspire our Latinx families & community into the outdoors for all of Central Oregon.

In addition to a percentage being donated by the band and event booker, Silver Moon will donate $1 of every pint sold of their Mexican-style lager, called Chela, and $1 each sold of their signature Chiringa cocktail!

All this said, we DO NOT support offensive gestures on this holiday that make a mockery of Mexican culture. In other words, please leave your sombreros at home.

But PLEASE come to dance, learn, celebrate with us! And spread the word! This will be Chiringa’s first show in a year and we are excited to bring the Latin fire back to town. Gather ‘round, people!
